On what date may a participant force the plan to distribute the plan benefit?

Absent an election by the participant to the contrary, the plan must provide that the plan benefit payment begins to be distributed no later than the 60th day following the close of the plan year in which the last of the following occurs: the participant attains age 65, the 10th anniversary of the date the participant began participation, or the date the participant quits or is terminated.
